Salon Heads Up & Beauty Spot (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through www.salonheadsup.co.za, why we collect it, who we share it with, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). We are the “responsible party” for the information described here.
1. Information we collect
- When you place an order: your name, email address, phone number, billing and delivery address, the items you order, and your order history.
- When you create an account: your login details and account preferences.
- When you contact us: anything you include in a message, an enquiry form, an email or a WhatsApp chat.
- Automatically: technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device and the pages you visit, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
We do not see or store your card or bank-account details. Payments are made on PayFast’s secure pages.
2. Why we use your information
- to process, deliver and support your orders, including payments, refunds and returns;
- to communicate with you about your order or an enquiry;
- to keep our records as the law requires (for example accounting and tax records);
- to keep the website secure and prevent fraud or abuse;
- to understand how the site is used and improve it.
We only send marketing messages if you have agreed to receive them, and every message lets you opt out.
3. Who we share it with
We share only what is needed, with service providers who help us run the shop:
- PayFast — to process your payment;
- The Courier Guy — your name, delivery address and phone number, so your parcel can be delivered;
- Google — website analytics (Google Analytics / Site Kit) and Google reviews shown on our site;
- Our email and hosting providers — to send emails and to store the website and its data.
Some of these providers process information outside South Africa. We only use providers that protect personal information to a standard comparable to POPIA. We do not sell your personal information.
4. Cookies
The site uses cookies to make the shopping cart and checkout work, to remember your session, and to measure visits. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the shop (such as the cart and checkout) may then stop working.
5. How long we keep your information
We keep order and account information for as long as needed to serve you and to meet legal record-keeping duties (generally up to 5 years for order and tax records). After that it is deleted or anonymised.
6. Keeping your information safe
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, access controls and security monitoring on the website. No system is completely secure, but if we ever become aware that your personal information has been accessed without permission, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as the law requires.
7. Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, to see it, to correct it, or to delete it where we no longer need it. You may object to processing, and withdraw consent you have given (this does not affect what we did before you withdrew it). To exercise any of these rights, email info@salonheadsup.co.za and we will respond within a reasonable time.
If you believe we have not handled your information properly, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za • complaints.IR@justice.gov.za.
8. Links to other sites
The site links to other services such as WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram. When you follow those links you leave our site and their own privacy policies apply.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
